Dear All,

Govovernment High School,Agraharam,Marungur Village, Thirumarugal, Nagappatinam District, Tamilnadu-609702 has 357 students including 58 students appearing for SSLC board examination in 2012. The major concern is that they have only 2 teachers to cater to the entire school.

Mr.V.Varadarajan, Headmaster informed the CEO and DEO of Nagappattinam District about the situation. When there was no improvement in the situation, he approached Future India Trust through our member K. Senthil Kumar and requested help to address this shortage of teachers at least for the SSLC students.

Senthil visited the school personally and collected enough data to proceed further.
Here is the class-wise strength of the students in the school –

6th std – 58 Students
7th std – 45 + 46 Students ( Section 7A and 7B)
8th std – 62 Students

THE GURU PROGRAM – Future India appointed TWO teachers to provide quality education at Government Higher Secondary School, Thevur, Salem District, Tamil Nadu

Future India received letter from HM of Government Higher Secondary School, Thevur, Sankar Taluk, Salem District, Tamil Nadu that there are 923 students studying from 6th to 12th , but there are only 25 teachers. Ideally, they should have 33 teachers.

HM told us that they have sent request to Govt of Tamil Nadu last year and they managed to appoint few teachers through PTA in 2010-11. In 2011-12, HM found difficult to raised fund and appoint more teachers through PTA . So,he was badly looking for support from local well wishers and Social Development Groups to appoint few teachers and pay their salary every month.

By seeing the situation of the school and student’s education, Future India appointed TWO qualified teachers from July 2011 and pay their salary from July 2011 to April 2011. In this process, Future India received resume of both teachers and conducted interview.

The name are of the teachers are T. JULIE ROSE M.A. B.Ed., and K. BHUVANESWARI M.Sc., B.Ed.,. They will be teaching to 6th and 10th Standard students. Both teachers are working from 1st July 2011. We agreed to pay Rs. 2000 per month to each teacher. Total Cost for both teachers : Rs. 4000 * 10 months = Rs. 40,000. There are 200 students are getting benefitted through this project.
